IJmuiden, April 16, 2013 - MPM-driver Marc Meihuizen knows exactly what he wants to do this season. "Go fast, run after run and when we do so, the results will be there too", the Pro Mod-driver says. Meihuizen wants to leave all the 2012 bad luck behind and focus on making fast runs again.
When you look at the '68 MPM Pontiac Firebird in Marc Meihuizen's race shop, you can't believe it's only six weeks until the start of the FIA European Championship at Santa Pod Raceway. But Meihuizen and his team did everything they could and the Dutchman and his JWR Racing team are on schedule for the start of the new season. "We are waiting for parts we ordered in America. We ordered everything December 2012, but still did not receive anything at all. The American season is already underway, so they were first, but I have to say, it's about time they send me the parts now too. We are waiting far too long now", says Meihuizen looking at his empty Pro Mod and a long line of engine parts and drive line components in his race shop.
A gearbox failure at last year's Santa Pod European Finals caused serious engine damage to the '68 Firebird. "After looking at the damage and finalizing our 2013 plans, we ordered all the parts we needed to repair the car. That was December 2012, but since then we haven't heard anything at all from the States and didn't receive any parts." But even that can't make Meihuizen nervous anymore as he has seen it all before. A Dutch company repaired the block, the heads are 100% perfect too and all parts are ready for assembling. As soon as the American parts arrive, the team can rebuild the engine and the Firebird is in 100% racing conditions again.
Last year Meihuizen was hit by bad luck and bad race tracks, so this season the MPM-driver wants to focus on going fast again. "As always, I want to go fast, run after run. When we do so, the race results will be there too and we will be a frontrunner in the championship." Meihuizen will do the full tour of six FIA European Pro Modified Championship races and except the parts they have to get from the States, all other pre-season preparations are on schedule. As usual the '68 Firebird will be tuned by Joeri Woudenberg again and the rest of the JWR Racing crew will almost be the same too. With all familiar people around, Meihuizen is looking forward to the start of another great season.
